Interview with Brooke Boswell, Bachelor of Business Student

You know we love sharing student stories and encouraging you to take full advantage of your time here at UNE. One student that has done this really well, and is tackling new opportunities is Brooke Boswell. She is studying a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in Marketing and has recently completed a Work300 with The Styling Edge, Property Styling, working in their Digital Marketing Support team.

At UNE Life, we are massive advocates for our students having work-ready skills, and encourage everyone to push themselves that little bit further whilst that have the support network of UNE to develop these skills!

We sat down and chatted with Brook about her experience!

Why did you choose to study a Bachelor of Business?

I had been working as a digital marketing consultant for many years but felt I needed to boost my CV by upgrading from an advanced diploma to a degree in business. I chose UNE because of their online support and LMS teaching system was the best I had seen in the market. The subjects were interesting and having a third-trimester option mean’s I have finished my degree quickly.

Tell us a little about your Work300 placement.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Work300 unit because it allowed me to assist my parents in building the digital aspects of their business The Styling Edge.

I assisted with their digital marketing strategy and execution as well as creating a new automated customer feedback system. I love all things digital, so it was great to get out there and help promote a business I really believe in. Its really got to be able to put your knowledge into action.

The Work300 team made the process easy to follow and was sure to keep everyone on track with their assessment timings. As a working, mature age student this was invaluable!

If you could do your work300 again, what would you focus on?

I would probably focus less on digital and more on strategic management.

What is your dream career?

Digital marketing for a great brand and hopefully one day working in my own agency.

Why should other students look at completing a work300 whilst at UNE?

Work300 will give you the confidence to put your knowledge into action. Work300 will also assist you in when writing essays and reports for other UNE units, as you can give real-world examples.
